Memorial Day hiking

Took my kids hiking to a local landmark yesterday , Pilot Mt. State Park. Located about 20 miles North of Winston-Salem NC , there is a trail around the knob with panoramic views . Pilot Mt.

Life is a grindstone . Whether it grinds us down or polishes us up , depends on what we are made of .

It really is a lovely area.

But, I once ran into a weirdo creepy man there...never been so scared in my life. This fella did not have good intentions...

ah HAH! I have identified the creepy man that made my gut instinct tell me to RUN!
(gut instinct..and the fact he pulled his car right up beside me and stared while licking his lips...)

Beautiful area, I was born in Mount Airy aka Mayberry. I still have family down there and I visit once or twice a year. If I didn't live in Southwest VA, that area of NC would be next choice.

Another 20 miles and you'd be at my home in King.

You live in King now? Thats a nice area but I hate the highway you get bounced all over the place. My family lives in Welcome.

Re: Memorial Day hiking

I've been here about 8 years and 7 years in Winston-Salem before that. Had to get back to that small town atmosphere I enjoyed in BSG many years ago.

Yea, I can understand that. Winston Salem is growing by leaps and bounds my cousin owns a restaurant in Winston Salem right off University Parkway. Have only eaten there once but it was pretty good, check it out some time. BTW, how crazy is that place going over Chris Paul and Eric Williams leaving Wake Forest?

Love the town of Cana (before cross NC line). Me and elp6n ate at an awesome place, the Hungry Farmer Buffet, and stopped at a few markets loading up on strawberry jam and sweets. The folks there were just as country as grits n' gravy.
